Direct Theatre

About Us

‘Direct Theatre fits in with my philosophy of arts for all, it’s not a business that creates a few prima donnas. I like the emphasis on stage craft, personal development imagination and fun’ (DT parent)

Juliette Malan and Peter Courtenay formed Direct Theatre in 2001. We pride ourselves on being just that little bit different. Class sizes are limited so every child is treated as an individual and performance is at the heart of what we do. Most of our regular classes culminate in end of term shows, our pupils perform regularly at local drama festivals and we stage at least six productions each year. We are constantly looking for new ways of working, pushing our own creativity and giving pupils new and exciting performance opportunities. Our past productions include an open air promenade play within the gardens of a local museum, several full scale multi-media productions and a certified feature film, which premiered in 2008. Our latest large scale production was staged at The Pier Theatre, Bournemouth in March 2010 and we are hoping to return again next year.
