How can I be sure my child gets individual attention?
Every child is treated as an individual and encouraged to develop at their own level. When choosing a play to perform, we make sure that each child is actively involved, with a character part and a specific role to play in each production.
Do you have a Uniform?
We are gradually ‘phasing in’ our uniform of a Direct Theatre School T-shirt. By September 2020 we want all students to wear a Direct Theatre School T-shirt to lessons.
What opportunities will my child have to perform?
Performance is at the heart of what we do at Direct Theatre School. Our Junior and Senior students perform showcases to family and friends at the end of term, as well as a main production each year.
We often have industry professionals leading workshops, from stuntmen to Hollywood directors. From this we are often approached by these industry professionals to recommend students for their future projects.
Do you offer free trial classes?
The first class is FREE and the next two are pay as you go at £10 per session. We understand that children often take a while to settle into a new activity or class. New pupils can take part in any of our classes and experience first hand what we do before deciding to join.
Do auditions, rehearsals and productions cost any extra?
No. All the costs for rehearsals and productions are included in your terms fees.
We do ask parents to purchase tickets for the show and encourage you to bring as many friends and family as possible. The proceeds from ticket sales help cover the costs of the shows… besides, we expect you want to show off your talented kids.
Do we have to provide or purchase any costumes?
We will ask you to provide basic items from home such as black trousers, footwear, etc. Direct Theatre School provides all additional costume and accessories for our productions at no extra cost.
What is your child protection policy?
Our current child protection policy is available on request. All our staff our CRB checked and a qualified first aider is present at all classes and Holiday projects.
When can my child start?
Pupils are welcome to join us at any time of the year. You don’t need to wait for the beginning of a term to join our classes, except when we are close to putting on our production as we don’t feel your child would benefit from the complete Direct Theatre experience! Please contact us if you are interested and we’ll let you know of our class availability.
When do I pay?
Invoices are issued prior to the beginning of each term and must be paid before the first lesson to secure your child’s space. We do have a waiting list so need confirmation that your child will be returning. If you child starts a class during the middle of the term parents are only billed for the remaining weeks of that term.
