Did you miss us? We sure missed you!
Please contact us if you would like to come to classes this term- limited spaces available and we MUST know in advance.
Class dates- 17th September- 26th November (NO CLASS HALF TERM 29TH OCTOBER)
For those of you who have already stated you would like to return/start, we haven’t forgotten you!
Information packs and invoices will be sent out this week.
An award winning film writer/director colleague of ours, Gemma Paul of Twisted Root Productions, is looking for actors of all ages to contribute to a film she is putting together based on the current ‘isolation’ climate we find ourselves in.
The film will be based on the premise of people being stuck in quarantine or ‘survivors’ who are creating a video diary of their time. Think along the lines of The Martian, in terms of the way he talks to the camera about his days and what he does etc. She’s looking for creativity and outside the box thinking!
The quarantine doesn’t have to be for the virus currently affecting us, it can be for anything. Try to be creative as possible, change up the location if you can, do something that looks like it’s somewhere else while still in the safety of your home. Play around, have fun! All footage is to be static (no movement), and shot in landscape. It can be shot on an iPhone or other similar phones with video capabilities.
Don’t rush, take your time. Give snippets over time and develop a story. Don’t worry about editing or sound and all that jazz. Just send her raw footage and she will piece bit together with others and add sound etc.
Be dramatic, be funny, be serious, be it all. Just have some fun with it in this time of craziness. No rush on actual footage as we have plenty of time!
Parents welcome to get involved too!
Anyone providing footage will be sent a release form, and if anyone is under the age of 18 it must be signed by a parent/guardian
Send all footage to email@example.com
*Direct Theatre is a third party introducer and are not receiving any reimbursement, monetary or otherwise
We hope you are all staying safe and enjoying the lovely weather in your gardens or on your walks (but maintaining social distancing)
As much as we’re sure you’re loving spending so much time together, you might be thinking of ways to occupy yourselves and/or the kids…
Well we have a few ideas!
Tiffany is also offering online LAMDA classes at a reduced price!
It is with heavy hearts that we must unfortunately cancel our holiday Easter School.
Anyone who paid will receive a full refund in the next few days.
We are hoping to go ahead with our Summer School as planned, but (as everything is at the moment) it is out of our hands.
We are looking into possibly organising some day and/or weekly workshops when the whole situation settles, so please follow us on social media to keep up to date with the latest plans and also when term starts back (as this may have to be altered in order to get in as many lessons as possible!)
We are still hoping to put on our Junior and Senior shows in July, but again, this is all reliant on the situation.
As always, stay safe and we will miss you!
Until we can meet up and have more drama fun,
The Direct Theatre Team x
Wow! What a fantastic first term we’ve had with you since taking over from Pete and Jules!
Thank you so much for putting your faith in us! We really cannot express how much that means to us and we are gutted that with so many plans in the pipeline we have to pause these.
In line with government guidelines, as schools have not been told to close until Friday, we will be going ahead with the last lesson of term on today.
The health and well-being of our students, their friends, family and our staff is of paramount importance to us so of course if government guidelines change in the meantime, so shall we.
We will ensure that as last week, all pupils wash their hands thoroughly before entering the class.
If parents or children are showing any signs of illness, please don’t attend.
We are living in very uncertain times and although we hope to resume classes after Easter on April 30th and to go ahead with the performances on July 5th, sadly neither of these may happen as scheduled and may need to be delayed.
As a small independent business, we really appreciate your continued support in these difficult times and we are trying to formulate alternative plans, should large group drama classes not be possible for the foreseeable future. If anyone has any suggestions on how we can do this we’d love to hear them as we understand it’s going to be extremely difficult and challenging for our students (and guardians!) not to be able to socialise and flex their artistic muscles!
For the time being we are continuing with private individual, duologue and small group lessons for LAMDA or for any other reason. If necessary these can be conducted by various methods online if we are faced with the worst case scenario of lockdown.
If you have social media please follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (the links to which can be found on our website) where you’ll find regular updates.
We hope to see as many of you as possible tonight where we will continue with rehearsals, in hope that we can go ahead with the performances next term!
Take care, be safe, stay positive and remember “The Show Must Go On”! We hope to see you all again very very soon and please keep us updated on how you’re all doing.
Much love & gratitude,
The Direct Theatre Team x
