End of term awards!

We are delighted to have awarded four of our senior students awards for their performances and behaviour last term.

Direct Theatre Award

Talia Matungamire, Lucy Wheeler and Natalia Blichowski were all awarded the Direct Theatre Award.

They always gave their best in class, put forward ideas, were impeccably behaved as well as bringing fantastic energy to their performances!

The Yolanda Moore Award

Luke Taylor was awarded the annual Yolanda Moore Award.

This award is in honour of a previous student, who’s parents have started a foundation in her name since her passing.

Luke always gives one hundred percent in class and performances, is considerate to the other students and has undeniable natural talent!

All of them were also given information about the Yolanda Moore Foundation where they can apply for grants towards education and extra curricular activities.

Want to be in a film?

An award winning film writer/director colleague of ours, Gemma Paul of Twisted Root Productions, is looking for actors of all ages to contribute to a film she is putting together based on the current ‘isolation’ climate we find ourselves in.

The film will be based on the premise of people being stuck in quarantine or ‘survivors’ who are creating a video diary of their time. Think along the lines of The Martian, in terms of the way he talks to the camera about his days and what he does etc. She’s looking for creativity and outside the box thinking!

The quarantine doesn’t have to be for the virus currently affecting us, it can be for anything. Try to be creative as possible, change up the location if you can, do something that looks like it’s somewhere else while still in the safety of your home. Play around, have fun! All footage is to be static (no movement), and shot in landscape. It can be shot on an iPhone or other similar phones with video capabilities.

Don’t rush, take your time. Give snippets over time and develop a story. Don’t worry about editing or sound and all that jazz. Just send her raw footage and she will piece bit together with others and add sound etc.

Be dramatic, be funny, be serious, be it all. Just have some fun with it in this time of craziness. No rush on actual footage as we have plenty of time!

Parents welcome to get involved too!

Anyone providing footage will be sent a release form, and if anyone is under the age of 18 it must be signed by a parent/guardian

Send all footage to

We hope you are all staying safe and enjoying the lovely weather in your gardens or on your walks (but maintaining social distancing)

As much as we’re sure you’re loving spending so much time together, you might be thinking of ways to occupy yourselves and/or the kids…

Well we have a few ideas!

Easter School 2020

Easter School 2020!

It is with heavy hearts that we must unfortunately cancel our holiday Easter School.

Anyone who paid will receive a full refund in the next few days.

We are hoping to go ahead with our Summer School as planned, but (as everything is at the moment) it is out of our hands.

We are looking into possibly organising some day and/or weekly workshops when the whole situation settles, so please follow us on social media to keep up to date with the latest plans and also when term starts back (as this may have to be altered in order to get in as many lessons as possible!)

We are still hoping to put on our Junior and Senior shows in July, but again, this is all reliant on the situation.

As always, stay safe and we will miss you!

Until we can meet up and have more drama fun,

The Direct Theatre Team x
